almost as odd as getting a great bargain today at the charity shop -three new locks with keys attached and then a friend came over and mentioned he needed to buy three locks.....weird but good weird this time!

You need to read The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker. It will help everything become clear... particularly when one shoelace breaks the day after the other one broke on the same pair of shoes. I think it's published by Granta.
